Start Anew

“Spiritual growth involves giving up the stories of your past so the universe can write a new one.”

― Marianne Williamson, The Law of Divine Compensation: Mastering the Metaphysics of Abundance

Life is all about growth and embracing change. It’s about learning when to close the book on the stories of your past so that the story of your future can be written. For when you let go of the chains of yesterday, you make way for the blessings of today.

Worry Less

“If a problem is fixable, if a situation is such that you can do something about it, then there is no need to worry. If it’s not fixable, then there is no help in worrying. There is no benefit in worrying whatsoever.”

― Dalai Lama XIV

Don’t waste time worrying about things you cannot change or those things over which you have no control. Truly, what’s the point? You only stress yourself out unnecessarily and add years to your life. Wouldn’t all that time you spend worrying be better spent actually enjoying and living your life? So, each day make a conscious effort to focus your energy on engaging in life and being truly present instead of spending countless hours on that which is inconsequential in the big picture.

Let Go

“When people walk away from you, let them go. Your destiny is never tied to anyone who leaves you, and it doesn’t mean they are bad people. It just means that their part in your story is over.”

― Tony McCollum

One of the more painful lessons of life is that some people were only meant to be in our life for a season. Often, people are brought into our life to help us through a difficult time or we are meant to help them. For life is like a continuous train ride where many people get on and off…some for one stop and others don’t get off for a few stops. The key is to learn that it’s okay to let go and watch people get off the train because they are no longer meant to be a part of your journey.

Forgiveness

“Forgiveness is not something you do for someone else; it’s something you do for yourself. To forgive is not to condone, it is to refuse to continue feeling bad about an injury.”

― Jim Beaver

We have all been hurt by others and by life’s circumstances. But the key is knowing when to let go of these past hurts instead of carrying the bitterness and anger around like dead weight. And the answer lies in forgiveness. In order to move forward, you must forgive those who have hurt you…including yourself.

Don’t Hold Onto The Past

“It isn’t good to hold on too hard to the past. You can’t spend your whole life looking back. Not even when you can’t see what lies ahead. All you can do is keep on keeping on, and try to believe that tomorrow will be what it should be—even if it isn’t what you expected.”

― Jim Butcher, Death Masks

Life is all about moving forward. You can’t live in the past. You can’t change what has already come to pass. The only thing you can do is use your past as teaching moments and have faith that the future will unfold as it’s meant to.

The Greatest Teacher

“All teachings are mere references. The true experience is living your own life. Then, even the holiest of words are only words.”

― Ming-Dao Deng

It’s great to listen to the advice of others and learn some lessons through others experiences. However, there comes a point when you must go out there and try and fail yourself. Because no matter what you’ve heard, there is no greater teacher than life itself. So, go be a part of the greatest experiment to ever exist…it’s called living your life for better or worse.

Don’t Overthink It

“I finally figured out that not every crisis can be managed. As much as we want to keep ourselves safe, we can’t protect ourselves from everything. If we want to embrace life, we also have to embrace chaos.”

― Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Go big or go home. Sometimes things are going to go wrong. Sometimes things aren’t going to go the way you planned. That’s just life and you need to embrace this. Stop trying to micro manage every aspect of your life and just enjoy the moment.

Letting Go

“Letting go is the lesson. Letting go is always the lesson. Have you ever noticed how much of our agony is all tied up with craving and loss?”

― Susan Gordon Lydon

In order to fully move forward, you need to let go of the baggage and dead weight chaining you to the past. You must learn to take the lesson from every experience in your life and leave the rest. For the past cannot be changed, but your future can as it has yet to be written.

The Good Side

“It takes no more time to see the good side of life than to see the bad.”

― Jimmy Buffett

Life is about which lens you choose to view it from. You can choose to always see the negative or you can choose to find the positive in every situation. And you will find that life is often more bearable and enjoyable when you choose to see the glass as half full. So, take the good from all of life’s moments and leave the rest.

Stop Overthinking It

“It’s life. You don’t figure it out. You just climb up on the beast and ride.”

― Rebecca Wells, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood

Spend less time trying to figure out the answers to life’s many puzzles and more time simply living life. Life isn’t a puzzle that is meant to be solved. Rather, it is a journey meant to be experienced. It is a precious gift, so, buckle up and enjoy the ride.
