Do Your Best

My life motto is ‘Do my best, so that I can’t blame myself for anything.’

– Magdalena Neuner

You should always strive to do your best in everything you do. Life isn’t meant to be full of regrets or what ifs. So, make it your goal each and every day to never hold back and to dedicate your focus to being fully present in the here and now.

The Present

“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.”

― Henry David Thoreau

At all times, you should strive to be present in the here and now. For it’s important to reflect on the past and dream of the future, but you must not forget to live in the present.

Don’t Rush

“You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.”

– Walter Hagen

Stop rushing through life trying to reach your destination. Rather, slow down to enjoy the scenery…take detours and get lost. For life is too precious and short to waste one minute being unhappy, angry, or resentful.

Enjoy the Moment

“Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don’t wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it’s at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.”

– Earl Nightingale

Life is too short to waste time sweating the meaningless bullshit that lurks around every corner. You will be absolutely miserable if you get upset about every disagreement, problem, and circumstance you encounter. So, instead, you must focus on letting go of things that won’t matter 6 months from now. And focus on the important aspects of life such as spending time with the people you love and spreading joy to others.

Open Your Eyes

“The key to a better life isn’t always a change of scenery. Sometimes it simply requires opening your eyes.”

― Richelle E. Goodrich, Making Wishes

To move forward in life isn’t necessarily synonymous with a drastic 180 degrees change. Sometimes to make the most meaningful change means to open your eyes and become aware. Being aware allows you to make choices that gradually shifts your mind frame and eventually your circumstances.

Forget the Map

“The best parts of life are the things we can’t plan. And it’s a lot harder to find happiness if you’re only searching in one place. Sometimes, you just have to throw away the map. Admit that you don’t know where you’re going and stop pressuring yourself to figure it out. Besides…a map is a life someone else already lived. It’s more fun to make your own.”

― Cora Carmack, Finding It

Life doesn’t come with a map detailing all possible routes leading to your destination. No, life is meant to be a journey of self-discovery where you walk along paths that haven’t been traveled . . . paths that lead into the unknown. For when you travel through life without a predefined map or guide, you open yourself up to a world filled with unimaginable possibilities.

The Sun will Rise

“The Sun will rise and set regardless. What we choose to do with the light while it’s here is up to us. Journey wisely.”

― Alexandra Elle

Each day is a new opportunity to try again, to start over. It is a chance to leave the baggage of yesterday where it belongs and begin again. It is the time to start a new story, a new journey. Most importantly, each day when the dawn breaks marks a pivotal moment when you have a choice to discover what it means to truly live or continue to merely exist.

Enjoy the Moment

“Go outside. Don’t tell anyone and don’t bring your phone. Start walking and keep walking until you no longer know the road like the palm of your hand, because we walk the same roads day in and day out, to the bus and back home and we cease to see. We walk in our sleep and teach our muscles to work without thinking and I dare you to walk where you have not yet walked and I dare you to notice. Don’t try to get anything out of it, because you won’t. Don’t try to make use of it, because you can’t. And that’s the point. Just walk, see, sit down if you like. And be. Just be, whatever you are with whatever you have, and realise that that is enough to be happy.
There’s a whole world out there, right outside your window. You’d be a fool to miss it.”

― Charlotte Eriksson

It’s so easy to get complacent and set in our daily routine that we end up just going through the motions. We tend to forget or get too busy to just stop and enjoy the present moment. So, it’s important to remind ourselves to simply stop, put the phone away and go outside and sit on a bench without a reason for doing so. Go take a walk without a destination in mind. For life is about enjoying the small miracles that surround us each and everyday like a butterfly taking flight or the warmth of the sun on your cheek.

Start Anew

“We grow up with such an idealistic view on how our life should be; love, friendships, a career or even the place we will live ~ only to age and realise none of it is what you expected & reality is a little disheartening, when you’ve reached that realisation; you have learnt the gift of all, any new beginning can start now and if you want anything bad enough you’ll find the courage to pursue it with all you have. The past doesn’t have to be the future, stop making it so.”

― Nikki Rowe

Change is scary. But, the key is to never let fear or disenchantment prevent you from pursuing the life you want. You can start anew at any point in your life…it is never too late to change the ending of your story!! Find the courage and strength within yourself to go after what truly matters most to you.

Vision and Action

Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.

– Joel A. Barker

All change begins with a dream and vision of what could be. However, having a dream is only the beginning and you must take active steps to make your dream a reality. So never forget that to effect real change you must first have a vision for the future and then you must take action to bring your vision to life.
