Make Progress

“Do you want to make progress? If so, then take each problem not as a challenging rival, but as an encouraging friend of yours, who is helping you to arrive at your ultimate destination.”

― Sri Chinmoy, The Jewels of Happiness: Inspiration and Wisdom to Guide Your Life-Journey

In order to move forward, you must embrace each obstacle and roadblock as a stepping stone to grow, learn, and overcome. You are only ever as stuck as you allow yourself to be.

Faith

“Faith, is the road that goes straight past the gravel, and cloud-mesh dirt into a mirage, where still you believe to go straight, and when you finally catch up with it, it ends at a lake where you stretch your eyes across, but unable to glimpse the other side- so you jump in and swim, gliding each stroke with tiredness and swallow of water, you reach the end, put a hand out and pull yourself up on concrete, where the same road continues straight into another blue-white blur.”

― Anthony Liccione

In this life, you must not lose faith in yourself and in the journey. No matter how hard it gets, no matter how tired you are, you must continue to believe that everything will work out. Have faith in something bigger than yourself. Keep trudging along your path even though you cannot see its end and have faith that you’ll end up where you’re meant to be.

More Smiling

“More smiling, less worrying. More compassion, less judgment. More blessed, less stressed. More love, less hate.”

― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

The key to happiness in this life isn’t some complicated formula. It’s very simple, focus on enjoying the small moments that bring joy everyday, whether it’s taking a moment to feel the sun warm your cheek. It’s all about how you choose to view life. So, why not choose to view it with a smile.

Create

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

~ George Bernard Shaw

In this life, you have the amazing ability to choose what kind person you want to be…what kind of life you desire. Each of us is born with a blank canvas and it is up to you to create a masterpiece or a tragic comedy. The decision and power is yours alone.

Be Bold

“You’ll learn, as you get older, that rules are made to be broken. Be bold enough to live life on your terms, and never, ever apologize for it. Go against the grain, refuse to conform, take the road less traveled instead of the well-beaten path. Laugh in the face of adversity, and leap before you look. Dance as though EVERYBODY is watching. March to the beat of your own drummer. And stubbornly refuse to fit in.”

― Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass

Live life on your own terms. Don’t let society or other people dictate the course of your life. Be bold, take chances, don’t apologize, dance to the beat of your own song, be fierce, and be free. You get but one life, so choose to live it.

Face Life

“Anyone can hide. Facing up to things, working through them, that’s what makes you strong.”

― Sarah Dessen

When things get hard, don’t run away and hide. Instead, stand up tall and deal with it. No matter how difficult or painful, commit yourself to working through whatever curveball life throws at you. For how you deal with these situations ultimately shapes who you are as a person.

Don’t Wait

“Life is like an escalator. You see, it carries you on regardless. And you might as well enjoy the view and seize every opportunity while you’re passing. Otherwise, it’ll be too late.”

― Sophie Kinsella

Life waits for no one. So, if there is something you want out of life, then go after it now. If you have a dream, start fulfilling right now. Don’t wait for tomorrow to start doing you and creating the life you crave. For life will pass you by before you realize it.

Let Go

“When people walk away from you, let them go. Your destiny is never tied to anyone who leaves you, and it doesn’t mean they are bad people. It just means that their part in your story is over.”

― Tony McCollum

One of the more painful lessons of life is that some people were only meant to be in our life for a season. Often, people are brought into our life to help us through a difficult time or we are meant to help them. For life is like a continuous train ride where many people get on and off…some for one stop and others don’t get off for a few stops. The key is to learn that it’s okay to let go and watch people get off the train because they are no longer meant to be a part of your journey.

Precious Gift

“Regardless of Sunshine or Rain, Be Thankful for another GREAT day…and treat Life as the ULTIMATE Gift…. Because IT IS :)”

― Pablo

Every day you wake is a blessing…it is a precious gift that should be cherished and not wasted. No matter what the day may bring – rain or shine – you should be thankful for the chance to live one more moment. For some would give anything to see the storm clouds raging if it meant one more day on this Earth.

Be Your Own Narrator

“There is no list of rules. There is one rule. The rule is: there are no rules. Happiness comes from living as you need to, as you want to. As your inner voice tells you to. Happiness comes from being who you actually are instead of who you think you are supposed to be. Being traditional is not traditional anymore. It’s funny that we still think of it that way. Normalize your lives, people. You don’t want a baby? Don’t have one. I don’t want to get married? I won’t. You want to live alone? Enjoy it. You want to love someone? Love someone. Don’t apologize. Don’t explain. Don’t ever feel less than. When you feel the need to apologize or explain who you are, it means the voice in your head is telling you the wrong story. Wipe the slate clean. And rewrite it. No fairy tales. Be your own narrator. And go for a happy ending. One foot in front of the other. You will make it.”

― Shonda Rhimes

At the end of the day, if there is one lesson you carry with you throughout life, it is this: Be Your Own Person. Don’t live your life trying to meet other people’s expectations for you. Dare to live your truth and never apologize or feel the need to explain yourself to anyone.
