Emotional Wellbeing

“If your leg is in a cast, it’s really dumb to sit in front of your computer doing unnecessary stuff with it hanging down. Your leg will swell and heal slower, if at all. When you go to your doctor, he/she will give you one of those “you’re really dumb and self destructive” looks. Also, “Why didn’t you follow my orders and rest?” Your doctor will be right, and so will mine at my next office visit. Elevate, folk! Elevate your mind, your soul, and your leg, in the order needed!”

― Sandy Nathan

Self-care is one of the most important aspects of any person’s life, but it is often the last thing you think of. It is important to remind yourself that your mind, soul, and spirit need the same kind of care as your physical body. Your mind, body, and soul require rest, attention, and support too. So, make it a priority to focus not only on your physical wellbeing, but also on your emotional wellbeing.

Believe in Yourself

“I didn’t know I had it in me. There’s more to all of us than we realize. Life is so much bigger, grander, higher, and wider than we allow ourselves to think. We’re capable of so much more than we allow ourselves to believe.”

― Queen Latifah

Don’t sell yourself short. You are capable of much more than you allow yourself to believe. It is so easy to limit ourselves and simply say that’s impossible or is some silly pipe dream. But the reality is that if you allow yourself to try and just go for the “impossible dream,” you may discover that what you once thought to be an insurmountable mountain was nothing but a grain of sand.

Balance

“THE FOUR HEAVENLY FOUNTAINS

Laugh, I tell you
And you will turn back
The hands of time.

Smile, I tell you
And you will reflect
The face of the divine.

Sing, I tell you
And all the angels will sing with you!

Cry, I tell you
And the reflections found in your pool of tears –
Will remind you of the lessons of today and yesterday
To guide you through the fears of tomorrow.”

― Suzy Kassem

A good life is all about balance. It is a balance of ups and downs, laughter and tears, joy and sorrow. And it is the ability to understand that you can’t have one without the other. For each moment you experience in life shapes who you are.

Embrace Your Life

“Remember this, – where there is life there is hope. You’re alive. Embrace this, because YOU CAN DO ANYTHING while there is breath in your body.”

― Lola Jaye

Where there is a will, there is a way. Never give up hope and know that anything is possible. As along as there is still breath in your body, there is hope and time to change how your story ends. For the only limits on your life are those you place upon yourself. So, embrace the life you were given and make the most of it each and every day.

Choose Your Crowd

“Distance yourself from negative people who try to lower your motivation and decrease your ambition. Create space for positive people to come into your life. Surround yourself with positive people who believe in your dreams, encourage your ideas, support your ambitions, and bring out the best in you.”

― Roy Bennett

You are a reflection of the crowd you choose to surround yourself with. So, be selective of the people you include in your life. Choose people who share similar values and who inspire you to dream big. Choose those who uplift you and motivate you to be your best self each and every day.

Moving Forward

“Sometimes we have to soak ourselves in the tears and fears of the past to water our future gardens.”

― Suzy Kassem

You must learn to accept what has come before in order to move forward in life. And often the process of healing is borne from our past hurts and mistakes. So, use the regrets and pitfalls of yesterday as stepping stones toward a better tomorrow. Because to truly know what it means to be high, you must have experienced what it means to be low.

Stop Overthinking It

“Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt. In other words, a wish is a good place to start but then you have to get off your butt and make it happen. You have to pick up a quill and write your own damn story.”

― Suzanne Selfors

It’s so easy to get lost in our heads and in our own self doubts. We so often set ourselves up for defeat and failure before we even start. So, if you have a dream, then get up, start making it a reality, and stop overthinking it.

Optimism

“Optimists enrich the present, enhance the future, challenge the improbable and attain the impossible”

― William Arthur Ward

Life is all about the lens you choose to view it from. And at the end of the day, the quality of your life and your happiness stems from your perspective. You ALWAYS have the choice to see the positive in whatever life throws your way. Just like you can choose to only see the negative of every situation. So, each morning make a promise to greet the new day with a smile and optimistic attitude that you can achieve the impossible. For if you dream it, you can achieve it.

No Excuses

“Maturity is when you stop complaining and making excuses in your life; you realize everything that happens in life is a result of the previous choice you’ve made and start making new choices to change your life.”

― Roy Bennett

It’s so easy to complain about the things going wrong in your life and to continually make excuses about why you haven’t done anything about it. But at some point, you will have to stop making excuses and start making different choices in order to change your life. And know that change won’t happen overnight, but at any time you can choose to stop walking in circles and start moving forward. So, choose today to make a different choice and change your narrative.

Stand Tall

“Even after the stormiest weather, a true warrior will still reflect the brilliant rays of the magnificent sun through both his or her eyes. You may get hit by sudden lighting or take severe beatings from the cruel wind, but you will always get back up and stand strong on your feet again, soak in the sunlight, and be prepared to get hit by even the most merciless hail – time and time again.”

― Suzy Kassem

Stay strong and resilient no matter how stormy the night. If you get knocked down, it’s okay so long as you get back up to face another day. For life is about weathering its many storms to emerge on the other side to see the Sun rise…and to experience renewed hope.
