Embrace Your Truth

“Be true to yourself, stay focused and stay you, take advice from other folks, use what you can, but never mind what is not for you. For the most part, trust yourself and believe in what you are doing.”

– Musiq Soulchild

It is so easy to allow your voice to be drowned out by those around you and to lose sight of your vision. This is something that I’ve found myself struggling with lately. I’ve found it difficult to stay true to who I am and not hold back in my daily interactions. It’s such a difficult balance to know when to push hard for something you’re passionate about and when to temper it to not alienate everyone around you. It’s a fine balance and I’m learning that going to the other extreme of not speaking up for fear of being stung is not the answer. No, you must fight for your voice to be heard, to stay true to yourself, and to trust your instincts. However, giving a voice to what you believe in doesn’t mean you have to talk over others or belittle an opinion that differs from your own.

Stay True

Stay true to yourself, yet always be open to learn. Work hard, and never give up on your dreams, even when nobody else believes they can come true but you. These are not cliches but real tools you need no matter what you do in life to stay focused on your path.

– Phillip Sweet

No matter what you may face in this life, you must always remain true to yourself. Have faith that your path will lead you to achieving your dreams. But as you travel along your path, you must be open to learn and willing to work hard to tackle whatever awaits around the corner.

Moving Forward

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.

– Albert Einstein

Life will undoubtedly be filled with good and not so good moments that will halt you in your tracks. The key is to keep moving forward regardless of what impedes your path. By continually moving forward, you maintain balance and create stability in your life.

Move Closer

“Ask yourself if what you’re doing today will get you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.”

—Anonymous

Every step you take should lead you down the path you want to travel. Every decision you make should put you closer to reaching your goals. Be mindful of every action you take and constantly reflect to make sure you are moving toward your future and not away from it.

Your Potential

“Each one of us holds the promise of greatness within our heart, minds, and souls. Our potential and where it leads us are as unique as our fingerprints, yet the way to access what is possible is universal. Affirm your life; find joy every day, even in the mundane; and embrace your strengths and use them to better yourself and the world.”

― Marianna Olszewski

There is great potential within each of us. Whether you fully realize that potential is up to you. To realize your potential, you must commit yourself each and every day to embracing all that life has graced you with. This means finding joy in every moment of life no matter how small or how dark the day. It means embracing the good and not so good in yourself and in others. It’s about using the tools and resources available to you to better yourself and those around you.

Be Giving

“Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.”

― H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Life is truly about what you give, not what you get. It’s about building relationships and sharing love with those around us. It’s about helping others without expecting anything in return. Most importantly, it’s about learning that some of your happiest moments stem from unselfishly giving of yourself in service of others.

The Long Road

“There is no royal road to anything. One thing at a time, all things in succession. That which grows fast, withers as rapidly. That which grows slowly, endures.”

– Josiah Gilbert Holland

Nothing that’s worth anything in this life comes easy or happens overnight. We’ve all heard that saying so many times that I think we forget how true those words are. We so often look for change to happen quickly or tomorrow, but that isn’t reality. Reality is that the really important things in life you must work hard for, you must nurture, and let it grow over time into the rose garden you’ve dreamed about. So, at the end of the day, work hard, be patient, and most importantly stay true to your path because it will truly be worth it in the end.

It Takes Time

“The best teachers have showed me that things have to be done bit by bit. Nothing that means anything happens quickly–we only think it does. The motion of drawing back a bow and sending an arrow straight into a target takes only a split second, but it is a skill many years in the making. So it is with a life, anyone’s life. I may list things that might be described as my accomplishments in these few pages, but they are only shadows of the larger truth, fragments separated from the whole cycle of becoming. And if I can tell an old-time story now about a man who is walking about, waudjoset ndatlokugan, a forest lodge man, alesakamigwi udlagwedewugan, it is because I spent many years walking about myself, listening to voices that came not just from the people but from animals and trees and stones.”

― Joseph Bruchac

Have patience. Always remember that the journey of life is not a sprint to your end destination; rather, it is a marathon with many forks and detours along the way. So, it’s great to have a goal and a vision of the future, but don’t forget it will take time, commitment, and hard work to make that vision a reality.

Reach for the Stars

“When you reach for the stars, you are reaching for the farthest thing out there. When you reach deep into yourself, it is the same thing, but in the opposite direction. If you reach in both directions, you will have spanned the universe.”

― Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration

To achieve your full potential, you must first believe in a future of limitless possibilities and have the drive to never stop reaching for the stars. In the same vein, you must harness that same drive to reach deep inside yourself in search of the better version of you. Self-care and self-discovery are just as important as chasing external goals.

The Choice is Yours

“If you are faced with a mountain, you have several options.
You can climb it and cross to the other side.
You can go around it.
You can dig under it.
You can fly over it.
You can blow it up.
You can ignore it and pretend it’s not there.
You can turn around and go back the way you came.
Or you can stay on the mountain and make it your home.”

― Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration

Life is all about choices. When life places a roadblock in front of you, you can choose to do something to get around it or you can choose to do nothing. Whether you move forward in life or sit on the sidelines watching life happen around you is always a choice. So, choose to face any obstacle head on instead of succumbing to life’s challenges.
